"IT'S ON!" Challenge for May: NINJAS!

"IT'S ON!"

When I was growing up all I ever wanted to be was a ninja. I would take a black t-shirts put one over my head and tie it in the back for a mask. Then I put on a pair of faded black sweat suit, and stalked through our front yard.

1980s was the days of the ninja from Snake-eyes in GI Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the American Ninja movies, they permeated the popular culture.
So here is my tribute to my favorite Asian export The Shinobi "THE NINJA" bum bum bummmmm.... (That was sposta be cheesy 80's ninja style music")

Draw a ninja, any type of ninja...Have fun with it!

Enjoy,
Bob

Toejam and Earl

I have had some sketches of these guys in my sketchbook for a while now. I have been planning a larger drawings of Toejam and Earl.

I was reminded how fun this Sega video game was when I downloaded it for my Nintendo Wii a couple of months ago. When I was in school my friends and I would spend hours on this game. This game has amazing imagination from the weird player settings(rocket Skates, total bummer, schoolbook) to the unconventional villains (giant Gerbil, mad dentist and nerd herd.)
If you don't know these characters...check these games out!

Here is some sketch work I did for Toejam and Earl.
Cool '80 Hiphop Aliens from Funkatron!
Enjoy,

No aliens yet...

But I haven't been quiet either ^^ I have made a few things worth showing here. If anyone has any Feedback, that's always appreciated.

First thing is a short story I made for an assignment of the art academy. The teacher said: "live in a garbage can for a week and show me in images."

Here is part of the story I made for him:

Here is the rest of "The Garbage Monster".

Second thing to show is a drawing I have worked on for nearly a year. The details nearly killed me and I would have stopped long ago if I didn't really enjoy scribbling away at this lovely tree.

I'm planning on adding some paint washed in the background to add more depth.

I'm also working on a new short story and I might show some sketches of the characters. One of those is actually an alien, so it would fit into the monthly challenge ^^

That's all for now!

THE "IT'S ON" CHALLENGE FOR APRIL...ALIENS!

THE "IT'S ON" CHALLENGE FOR APRIL...ALIENS!
Ever since I was a small child I have looked to the stars looking for signs of extraterrestial life. From the thought of other alien civilizations, planet hopping UFOs or a close encounters with actual extraterrestials; my imagination reeled with visions of aliens.

What is your vision, Are your aliens cute or scary, sexy or monstous?
Show us what you think about aliens...

Have a great month guys...
Enjoy...

Andar vs. The Deathbot

I don't know if I'll have time to draw a new robot by the deadline, so I'm just going to have to post one from the archives.

Washington Avenue Banner Contest...

This is an ongoing "contest" to have your banner on the top of the page until we grow weary of and create a new one to replace it.

Specifications:
1. Must have "Washington Avenue.Blogspot.com" on the Banner.

2. Has to be 9 inches long, 2 to 4 inches high and set to 72DPI. Format should be a indexed GIF or a reasonably sized JPG.

3. Must look awesome and not blurry.

Other than these three specs feel free to create and exploit!
There are no prizes but bragging rights and a feeling of a job well done. (yeah, sorry I'm one of those starving artist, and cheap to boot.)
Good luck, People.

Here is my entry for March: Robots.

Washington Ave. Banner

I made a quick signature banner tonight for anyone who wants to use it:
It is the standard 200x40 pix size and can also be done as a direct link here: http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r290/rohwer_25/b.gif
If y'all hate it, let me know, and I'll take it down.

Hello all!
I'm alive and well, folks... Minus one gall bladder.

That's all I got for now. March post up soon

a real monster entry!

Hey Guys! It's real quiet here so when I had some paint (gouache) left after another project I thought I'd make a real cute monster picture especially for this month's theme. I hope you like it ^^

Gekko monster!

This Tokay is based on old sketches for different races I made, I wanted to try something with a reptilian look. Together with a friend (Petra de Roodt, who did the colouring of this piece) we decided to give them an Aztek look ^^. I draw them in a side story for Petra's comic (Tirn Aill)

I really like the way even the pupils of Mayor Riba are strange. It's fun drawing completly none-human characters, at least for me it is.

Sorry Guys...

Febuary is open draw... Mostly because it's been so hectic for me.

I figured that almost no one posted for "Monsters," I could continue running it.

Febuary has been crap. Just as Valentine's was ramping up, I have to get my gall bladder removed on the 29th (I've had horrible stomach pain, hence my drawing slump,) and then My wife's Grandfather passed away. Sucks!

So, that is why I didn't turn in my homework, Daniel-san.

As always post any artwork that you want to show on the board.... Have fun!

What's next?

Okay, okay, so I missed January's monster submission. Is it extended to February, or is there something new?

Monsterfish?

Is the monster supposed to be fictional? Well, even if it should be, here's a "monsterfish" I painted. He's based on an actual fish, but I changed some colours and maybe more... I didn't have a photo or anything as reference, just some quick pensketches I had made while in the aquarium ^^;

Arrr!!! I hate bein' late!

Finally got around to drawing my pirate -- but I was drawing during the debates, so all I could think of were donkeys and elephants!

I got the idea for this challenge while on http://www.verabee.com/ . This is one of her beautiful drawings. Vera is an amazing artist you should check it out. I love her character work.
